One thing after another....

So, I'm driving down I-15 in Utah--I'm making a quick run to Babies R' Us while Taylor is golfing with his brothers--and all of a sudden, I hear that a window is down. I look over and the front passenger window is down a few inches. This puzzles me, but I thought, "Well, maybe my knee hit the button...?!?" So I go to roll it up, and it doesn't budge. I play with the "lock" and "unlock" button and keep trying to roll it up--but nothing was happening. So I called Taylor to see if he knew what was going on or if he had any solutions for my situation. He said not to worry about it and he would look at it when he was done.

Well, after the conversation I noticed the window was lower than when I first noticed the problem...little by little the window kept getting lower and lower...and then, the rest of the window just dropped into the door. Now, this situation was bad enough that I was on the freeway, but to top it all off, it was 100 degrees outside and with the window completely down, the AC full blast did hardly nothing! So, I called Taylor again. Not like he was able to do anything, but for some reason it brought comfort knowing that he knew. So again, he said he'd look at it when he was done. I expressed a concern of going in Babies R Us with the window completely down and a backseat and trunk full of gifts from the baby shower (more details of that to come...). So he said to move all the gifts to the trunk and pull the cover over them. Now, the idea was definitely the best for our given situation, but the effort required to do this definitely outweighed the reality of doing it. It was 100 degrees outside--I couldn't even bear the heat to find two of the gifts we received as duplicates to return them, let alone stand there and move everything around....it was hot!

Needless to say, the trip to Babies R Us went well and uneventful--no one tried to steal anything. But I decided to take the jeep to where we bought it and ask the mechanic to look at the window, of course, no mechanic was in. So he sent me to the Jeep dealership, and really, the the service was TERRIBLE!!! You do NOT mess with an 8 1/2 month pregnant lady in 100 degree weather who is thristy and hot! He said he'd go get a tech to look at the window, but after a few minutes he came back saying the tech couldn't come look at it. I of course replied in an 'are you kidding' voice, "He can't even LOOK at it???" and then that guy got all testy with me and told me to go to Pep Boys. Given the situation, I think I handled myself pretty well. Of course at this point I was a hormonal pregnant lady on the road and if you got in my way I would squish you like a bug! So I went to Pep Boys and it was too late to get any parts ordered, but it was at least more helpful than the dealership. They told me that the regulator arms that hold the window up must have broken, and that it was not the motor...good, that means it would be that expensive. But again, we still had a window that wouldn't roll up and we had a two hour drive back to Idaho ahead of us. So off I went, in the heat, on the freeway with the window still down to meet up with Taylor.

Really...I don't know why I wasted my energy and strength on mechanics when the Housley boys are around. Taylor and his brother Theran took the door panel off and found some wood to prop the window up. It worked perfectly. We were able to drive all the way home with absolutely no problems. We will obviously need to get the Jeep in and have it fixed, but it was a great solution to our problem. Yea for the Housley boys!

oh man, I just went through that with my car window this WINTER - and it broke AGAIN in June. Now I'm too paranoid to even use it. I'm glad you have a blog! Hope all is well! - Nicole
