Week Recap

I have been delaying this post because I keep meaning to take a picture, but every time I think about taking a picture--it's too dark. So, I have just opted to post anyway.

Last Wednesday, we got grass! Wahoo!! :-) Random, I know. But anyone who has visited us or heard us talk about this issue knows how big of a deal this is! We have been fighting the HOA for more than a year and we finally got grass! In the end--we got the grass for free, but Taylor had to lay it, which wasn't a big deal because Taylor likes that kind of stuff, so yea!

Thursday we had a stake leadership training. AND, our very own Costco opened! YEA! I LOVE COSTCO!! (It's Tuesday, and in less than a week, I have already been three times!) Pocatello has finally been put on the map! Wahoo!!!

Friday we went to a halloween party at our friend's house. Those who know us, knows that we are not big on dressing up. (Ok, disclaimer--Taylor really does try, I don't). But we even dressed up (big deal!) and got Isaac all dressed up in his lion costume....even though he kept trying to take it off! Hahaha....

Look how cute that costume is! That would be me slaving away in the background on my cute Halloween dish that I took to the party....HOWEVER....I did not get a picture of it! I am so bummed because I spent several hours on it! And, I didn't get a picture of Taylor and my costumes...lame, I know. (I would tell you what we were, but I plan to use it next year too!) (Oh, and I will get better pictures of Isaac this Friday when we take him to Taylor's office party).

Saturday we lounged around--one of my favorite things to do since we are so busy during the week--and then I made Taylor watch a chick flick with me--Made of Honor. It was alright.

And then Sunday was church and good as usual. So, that was essentially our weekend. Oh, and I finished book three of Twilight...my favorite is still Twilight with Eclipse in second. Still don't like Jacob. And...the Twilight movie looks like a horror movie--am I the only one who thinks that??

Chillin

Isaac...just chillin and watching the Cowboy's game with dad. :-)

Waaaaay over due!!

This post is beyond overdue. But for journal and comparison purposes....here is Isaac's LAST monthly picture.

Recap of 11 months:
And, 12 months:

(The shoes are too big for him...)
Speaking of big...we thought Isaac would have high percentages for his weight and height, but he wasn't more than 40 percent in the height and weight percentiles!
Isaac is the happiest, cutest, most wonderful joy in our home!! We cannot believe it's been a year, he has grown SO much!

I'm hooked.

I told myself I wasn't going to jump on the bandwagon....and I did. I started reading the Twilight series and I am officially hooked. I read all of Twilight on Saturday and then started New Moon on Sunday and finished it last night. I can't believe how hooked I am!!! A "pro" about finally reading the series is that almost everyone else around me has read them, so whenever I ask a question or say something about them, they all know what I am talking about! However, a "con" about that is when I say "I don't like Jacob! He is getting in the way of everything!" ... I get the, "Ohhh....just wait!" And I don't like hearing that!!!

Taylor can't get over the "book worm" that has emerged in me. I started Eclipse last night, but for the past two nights I have had dreams that I was either in the story line or about the story and they have woken me up...several times...so I may take a teeny-tiny break from them to let my mind unwind a little!!!

Now when the movie comes out next month....anyone up for a girls night out?!

What a week!!!!!

Let me paint a picture for you. Last weekend we had a great time with Taylor's family. They left on Sunday, and Taylor and I both had Monday off of work for Columbus day--it was a great day. On Tuesday I felt a cold coming on, by Wednesday I knew I hadn't avoided it. I slept in on Thursday because I felt so sick. When I woke Isaac on Thursday, both his eyes were red. I thought it was from crying because he was having an unusually cranky morning. Well, when it came time to leave, they were still very, very red.

Needless to say, we took him to the doctor and he had pink eye in not one, but both eyes. Taylor and I juggled our schedules--he stayed home with Isaac until 2:00, and then I came home and Taylor went to work. Isaac was just as happy as could be, and I really didn't mind leaving work to be with him.

SO....after an hour or so of Taylor leaving, I decided to vacuum our rugs upstairs. I walked down the stairs to get the vacuum and right as I was getting to the bottom of the stairs an overpowering odor of what smelled like paint came over me. (I was surprised I could even smell it as strongly as I did because of my cold). I immediately called Taylor and asked him if he had painted or polished anything earlier. He said no and I explained what I had just experienced, he said he would come home (his work is just down the street from us, really, it's within walking distance) Once he got home he scoured through the closets and garage in hopes of pinpointing the smell. I continued with my vacuuming upstairs until I heard Taylor yelling something to me. I shut the vacuum off to hear Taylor say, "Honey, don't light anything, I think we have a gas leak!"

Yep. That was the other fun thing added to our already fun week. We had a guy come right away and he couldn't find a leak, he just tightened a few things and pretty much said, if the smell comes back, give me a call. During this time, we thought it best if Isaac and I got out of the house, so off we went to run errands. After half an hour or so I called Taylor to learn what was going on.....but he didn't answer his phone. So I called our house, no answer. Six tries later....still no answer. I had great plans of meandering through TJ Maxx and Shoe Carnival (really, that is our only choices here!) but the thought of our house up in flames or Taylor lying unconscious on the floor overwhelmed me and I hurried home. Yeah, he was fine. Just misplaced his phone. Once he found his phone he said to me, in a disbelief tone, "12 missed calls???" And I answered, "I was worried!" :-)

I was still not satisfied with the guy's solution to our problem. And the smell was still there. Friday morning I called the gas company. They said we had several small leaks and several things would need to be replaced. Another heating company came out and found no leaks, then the inspector came out and said there was a leak. Obviously you can see what kind of day this was for us!! They finally concluded there was a leak by our fireplace and that the valve on the furnace and the water heater would have to be replaced. Unfortunately the valve for the furnace wouldn't be here until Monday. So the final verdict was we could stay in our house and we would have hot water but no heat until the valve came on Monday.

We figured we'll stay home unless it gets too cold and then we'll either trek up to Blackfoot for the weekend or stay in a hotel. So far we have survived one full day and I have been unbelievably hot!! I feel very blessed that this happened now--had it happened last weekend, we would have had company here and it snowed....this weekend is actually the warmest it has been all week and in the upcoming week. So, we are surviving and enjoying the adventure. I told Taylor it was like camping in our own house. He just laughed at me. :) However, who ever knew that having a gas leak and calling in a heating company would be RIDICULOUSLY expensive!!! Yikes.

But on a better note, I am feeling much better and you never would have known Isaac had pink eye.

Here are some extremely adorable pictures we took of Isaac earlier this week in his cute cowboy outfit!

Posing like a little stud for the camera....
"Look mom! No hands!" (You can kind of see his cute cowboy BOOTS)
Love this next one...
And especially this one....
Thanks Nana for the adorable outfit!!

I sure love my little chatter-box boy! And I am so blessed to have an incredibly strong and wonderful husband. I love how safe I feel with him and how secure and protected I am when I am with him! I feel so blessed for the boys in my life!

Here's to another fun-filled week!

The first..........haircut!

Isaac got his first haircut this weekend by none other than dad. I was so against and so apprehensive about giving Isaac a haircut, I mean all the hair he had had taken him a year to grow!!! But it was in need of a cut...and having Heather and Jen here (see below) they also convinced me to do it. In Jen's words, "it will grow back better, fuller and faster." or something like that! So you better be right Jen!!! :-)

Although, Isaac felt the same way about it as I did!

He did NOT like the razor! I don't know why, it's not that loud, but he was not a fan, so then I really felt bad! I mean....look at that face!
I couldn't just watch, so I got right up and held him and hugged him in hopes that he would calm down but he just held on to me for dear life!
The back side....so not that bad....:-)
Taylor told me that he was just going to trim it, but look at all that hair that he cut off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And no Kim, I didn't save any of it.....!)
(Sorry, we didn't get a front facing picture for some reason....you probably wouldn't be able to tell anyway).

Visitors!!

This past weekend we had visitors!! We always love when people come to visit us--and this time it was Taylor's sister Heather and her three girls--Sydney, Morgan and Kendra AND our sister-in-law Jen and her daughter Brooke! It was so fun to have them!! We definitely had a full house but we loved it. They came Friday night and left Sunday morning. We had pizza once they arrived, Syd and Mo drew us pictures and the little ones all took a bath together.

Saturday morning we had breakfast, and then I had planned some fun Halloween craft/treats for Syd and Mo. We made ghosts, witches on sticks, and creepy crawlers. It was quite the project!
Then we watched a movie while Heather and Jen went to the grocery store--because they made us dinner!! I know, how weird is it for our guests to make us dinner?? But, really, I didn't mind because it was SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO good!!! I am still reminiscing the taste of it....yum!!!

Once dinner was done, baths were taken and the kids were in bed, we stayed up and watched a movie and had cookies and popcorn! YUM!

It was SO much fun to have our family come visit us this weekend. I LOVE LOVE LOVE watching Isaac interact with his cousins, granted he is still pretty young, but I am just so excited for him to be close to his cousins--something I never really had.

I also must note our sleeping arrangements. We had Syd and Mo on an air mattress in our room, and Kendra and Brooke slept in Isaac's room. It was pretty fun having all three little ones in the same room, but we managed. Poor Heather definitely didn't come for a weekend full of sleep--she most likely got the least amount of sleep....sorry about that!!! Cougar is partly responsible for that. On Saturday night, Cougar just didn't want to sleep, so he kept barking...well when there are three little ones in the same room below the dog and two girls in our room by the dog--we just couldn't let him bark. Taylor was up with Cougar most of the night taking him in and out of the house and Heather heard all of it....so it was a night of interrupted/no sleep. Why is it that these kinds of things always happen when you have company staying with you???

But all in all, we sure love our family and are so grateful they made the drive to come see us!!! We love you soooooooooooo much!!!

Isaac's birthday celebration Part 2

This past weekend we went to Colorado for the weekend. It was the first time not being in Utah for General Conference for who knows when....it was different to not be there, but good.

So, we flew in Friday night. On Saturday we went to the AFA vs. Navy football game, which is apparently a big game. My parents have press box seats and Isaac loved to stand on the ledge of the window.

On Sunday morning, Isaac was crawling around and he decided to crawl up on the ledge and just happened to sit right in front of the TV. It was SO cute! He thought he was pretty cool too.
Here he is checking out what he is blocking.
So cute.....
We did presents throughout the day, again, not too interested in unwrapping them.
...more interested in climbing on them....
Check out these ADORABLE cowboy boots!
Sunday night we did birthday cake!! (Sorry Kim, my cake is NOT even close to as good looking as yours!)
Isaac checking it out...
And before you know it....

HE LOVED HIS CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He grabbed it with both hands and got a cake-beard within seconds!

I have so many pictures of this that it was so hard to pick.

Then on Monday we went to Red Robin and they sang to him! He wasn't quite sure what was going on but it was so fun.
It was another great birthday celebration! Taylor and I can't believe we have a one year old!!! Thanks Nana and Papa for a great weekend!!!!! We sure love you and love all that you do for our family!

First "babysitter" night

I have to document a monumental night for us. Thursday night was a work party at Taylor's office. His boss was in the play "Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat" so his office went out to dinner and then the play. We decided to go but knew it wouldn't be best to take Isaac--especially since the play didn't even start until 8:00 (his bedtime). SO, we asked our close friends if they would watch him and they gladly accepted. It was our first official time leaving Isaac with a "sitter" for the night. It was so nice to know we left him in good hands, but it was so hard being away from him....AT THE SAME TIME...it was REALLY nice to be out just Taylor and I. So, it was a great night and we are very grateful to have good friends!

Isaac's birthday celebration Part 1

The last weekend in September, so about two weeks ago, we went to Utah to celebrate Isaac's birthday with Taylor's family. It was SO fun and SO busy. We drove down Friday night. First thing on Saturday, we went to our nephew Braden's football game and it was so fun! Here's Braden with "coach" Cam. (He really is one of the coaches).

Look how studly Braden looks in all his pads! Here's Theran, Taylor, Isaac AND Cougar watching the game.
During the game, Alexa and Isaac played together. Alexa made Isaac SO happy. It was so cute to watch. After the game Alexa told me "I like Isaac." It was so cute. :-) I love watching Isaac interact with his cousins.

After the game we went down to Spanish Fork where we had a birthday party for Isaac and Morgan. Kim made a double-tier, two-sided sports themed cake for the two. It was adorable! Here is Isaac's side...

And Morgan blowing out the candles because ISAAC FELL ASLEEP! I couldn't believe it! I was so geared up for the whole cake adventure, but right before we were about to have it, Isaac needed a nap, so we decided it was best to put him down. Maybe next year we'll be able to get a picture of him and Morgan with the cake!
Once he woke up we opened gifts. Isaac was less than interested, but we are so grateful to our family for spoiling Isaac with gifts and love!

Later that night we had my friend take some family pictures--which was very fun and we hope to have some good ones to choose from! And then we had to be back for church on Sunday, so we left that morning. It was such a fun trip and it is always so good to see Taylor's family, I truly love them and feel SO SO SO SO blessed to have such GREAT in-laws!!!
Here is a picture of Isaac on our way home, he fell asleep holding his spoon and drinking out of his sippy cup!
