A shout out to "my boy's"

I just love my boy's. Isaac is so adorable and such a good baby--I feel so blessed to have him in my life. I am extremely grateful that the Lord has trusted me enough to send this sweet boy to our home so that I can be a mother to him, and Taylor can be a father to him. I love him!! And I am so extremely grateful for Taylor...he is such a good dad and husband. He is such an involved father--diaper changes, getting up in the middle of the night, etc--that it seriously means so much to me! He is so good to both me and Isaac. I am such a lucky girl to have these two incredible boy's in my life!!!

As for this last weekend, it was pretty eventful. We rented "Meet the Robinson's" from Netflix...and in my opinion...not worth your time. I was not a fan, sorry. Taylor's mom also came up for the weekend and arrived Friday night. It was great to have her here and allow her to meet her newest grandson a little more.


I think this next picture is hilarious. Obviously you can tell that Isaac is starting to get hungry because he'll eat whatever you put to his mouth....

Isaac is still not enjoying his baths...this is his crying face that just pulls at the heart strings...and he wouldn't let go of my hand.

But, after crying like that, he falls asleep and looks like an angel. There seriously is nothing like a sleeping baby.

Since Suzanne was here for the weekend, Taylor and I were able to go on a date!! Taylor's cousin is a coach for Cal Poly and they came to Pocatello this weekend to play ISU--and Taylor's cousin got us four tickets. So, Suzanne offered to stay with Isaac and Taylor and I went to the game with our friends, Heather and Karl. ISU lost and the game wasn't totally entertaining, but we sure love our friends!!! (I guess I should insert that the guys liked the game, but Heather and I were far more interested in other things, i.e. "does your son do this...oh mine does this...").

It was so weird to be away from Isaac for just two hours. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that our friends had a baby boy 7 weeks before us and they had their little guy with them, but seriously, I told Taylor I was ready to leave at the end of the 3rd quarter because I was having some withdrawal issues (plus the game wasn't that exciting....). Following the game, we went to Chili's and Isaac was a champ through it. Once we got our table, he slept through the entire dinner.

And this picture is for Nana...she bought Isaac this adorable outfit--that he wore through his first three-hour church block--but, Isaac is apparently hungry and not in the mood to look at the camera...haha....

Two Week Well Baby Check-Up

So we had another fun outing to the doctor's office today. You would never guess it, but our sweet little baby weighs almost 9 lbs!!! He weighed in at 8 lbs 15 oz (he weighed 7 lbs 12 oz at birth, 7 lbs 10 oz when we left the hospital), that's almost a pound and a half in two weeks!! He's growing right before our eyes and we can hardly stand it! Everything looks good and he's growing as he should be--yea!

After the doctor, Isaac and I went over to the middle school and went on a walk around the school track. Time to get completely back in shape! I was able to use our stroller for the first time and I looove our stroller.

After our walk, Isaac was so tired, but didn't sleep long because I had to load him up to go to Blackfoot for my cousin Asher's birthday celebration while Taylor went to class. The birthday party was full of noise and events that Isaac did not sleep. Which could be good or bad. For the past couple of nights, Isaac has had really good nights. So hopefully...he'll have an amazingly good night tonight because he only slept like 5 hours today, or he'll be so tired that it will be a terrible night. So....we'll see. But, he is just a happy, good baby, I can't believe he's almost 3 weeks old!

Anyway, today was another cute outfit! (Taylor thinks I like playing dress up on our son! :-) ) Here are more pictures....sorry, it's like the same poses, just different outfit and different day...hope your not getting sick of them!

One happy momma and one handsome boy!

Read it and weep. Our 2 week 3 day-old little boy had an amazingly good night last night!!! I am sooo happy!!! We put him down at 11 p.m. and he woke up at 3:30 a.m. to eat (yes, that was a good 4 hour sleep segment for me) and fell right asleep after feeding and slept until 7 a.m. (that would be a good three hour segment for me) he did so good!!! Then he fell back asleep around 8 a.m. and slept until 11 a.m, so I got another 3 hours! Now, will every night be this way--probably not--but once in a while is nice and it sure makes me one happy momma!!!!

So, I am really enjoying being able to dress Isaac...and he looks so stinkin' cute today, minus the fact that the pants are still too big for him...:-)

Stake Conference

We had Stake Conference today. They called a new Stake Presidency; therefore, we had two general authorities attend: Elder Hammond of the Seventy and Elder Richard G. Scott of the Twelve. It was a great conference! Nevermind the fact that we had our alarm set to go off at 7:30 a.m. to allow us to get to the Stake Center and get great seats but it never went off and we actually woke up at 9:30--30 minutes before it started. Oops. No idea why the alarm didn't go off...part of me wants to think that the Lord was watching over me because I got little sleep last night and He was allowing me a few more hours...:-) just kidding. But, the funny part is, our friends who we were going to save seats for actually slept in as well...but we made it to our ward building and watched the conference via broadcast.

Anyway, there was a particular part of the conference that really stuck out to me. Elder Scott was speaking and he paused and said, "I'm going to do something out of the ordinary. I'd like to call on two people to come up here and help me, and both have no idea I am about to call on them." (Talk about holding your breath if you were in the congregation!) Well, he called on two daughters of the new stake presidency's families. So these two girls make it to the microphone and they couldn't have been more than 14 years old. So Elder Scott starts by asking, "(Name--I didn't catch it) How does your father show his love for your mother?" then he goes on to the next girl, "(Name--again, I didn't catch it) Does your family have family home evening?" He continues to go back and forth between these two girls from two different families, asking questions like, "Well who prepares the lesson in your family for FHE?", "Do you say prayers in your home?", "Do you say personal prayers?", "Why do you pray?", "I notice both of you are dressed modestly...is it hard to dress modestly?", "Why do you dress modestly?"...and then he invited the two girls to bear their testimony. (He goes, "Now, you don't have to, but I'd like to give you the opportunity to bear your testimony, would you like to bear your testimony?" The two girls just look at each other and go "Um..." I mean, what do you do?? It's not like you ca say no when a general authority asks you to and your called up on stage...)

So you get the extent of these questions. All I could think about is how on edge their parents must be as to what their daughters would say and if they have taught their daughters (and other children) appropriately. Can you imagine your daughter standing next to an Apostle when he asks "Does your family have FHE every Monday night?" and your daughter saying "No" or even if you don't and she felt like she should say yes, etc.

Anyway, the point is, there was absolutely no way for these two girls to be prepared for this encounter with Elder Scott and how grateful I'm sure they were, along with their parents, that they are studying the scriptures as a family, saying family and personal prayer, having FHE, and teaching their children WHY these things are important. As a new, new, new parent, this stuck out to me because I desperately want Isaac, and subsequent children, to be reared in the gospel of Jesus Christ and to know their Savior, and know that they are children of God and can kneel down in prayer and communicate with their Father in Heaven. And I wouldn't want an event, like having an Apostle ask the previous questions to my children, and my children go "Well, uh, not really." More importantly, the previous mentioned questions are things that I know will teach and prepare my children for life and the temptations they will undoubtedly face. I took the events of today as a reminder of how important it is to teach the gospel in our families and I'm grateful to have a worthy husband who feels the same way.

TOUCHDOWN!I think this picture is so cute, and I promise we didn't put his arms in that position. Taylor was wrapping him up right before bed and obviously he was the one who pointed out that Isaac's arms were in a touchdown position. Isaac must be dreaming about how BYU is going to cream Utah this season...what a smart boy! (He already knows how to make his mom and dad proud!)

New purchases for the house

Monday was also an exciting day for us. I took Isaac out by myself for the first time--it really was a great feat for me. I had a doctor's appointment to make sure my incision was healing well, and I took Isaac with me. His sleep schedule was pretty off, and then when he did wake up, eat and go back to sleep, it left little time for me to get ready. I still had to get the diaper bag ready and load up the car and load Isaac up in his car seat, needless to say, I was planning on rescheduling my doctor's appointment. But, I figured I could make it if I just hurried. (My mom went to lunch with her mom, I wasn't ready so I didn't go with them...I was planning on meeting up with them, but my mom thought she was taking me to the doctor...miscommunication obviously took place. She was worried about me driving and carrying the car seat too soon that I would hurt myself or cause the recovery to slow down.) Anyway, we made it to the doctor just fine, a little late, but in time. I didn't even think about how driving would affect my incision--I just took pain medicine as a precaution and was fine--come to find out you shouldn't take pain medicine and drive at the same time...oops! I didn't notice any difference though.



After the doctor appointment, which Isaac continue to sleep through, I ran some errands with my mom. Yes, my mom is still here and I love it. I am actually not looking forward to having her leave this Thursday. She has been such a huge help and it has been so fun to have her here. I am not looking forward to how quiet my days will be knowing she is not here anymore. But we ran to one of my favorite stores--Bed, Bath and Beyond--and got some great rugs for our house! This is something Taylor and I have been wanting to get for quite some time, so this was a very exciting buy for us!!





And, we got one for under the kitchen table too.

Now, this doesn't have anything to do with the area rugs, but it is definitely one of my favorite things about our house! My sister in law Heather gave this to me as a gift for graduation...it's a quote that we picked and were able to customize according to our space needs. Once we had it custom made it was mailed to us and then we put it on the wall...it's basically a sticker. I just love how it turned out and how it looks. It is absolutely perfect!! It says, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15." Thanks again Heather! :-)

Our First Sunday Out

Sunday brought an eventful day for us. Our friends blessed their baby in our ward at 9 a.m., and we were planning on taking Isaac with us--because, really...to go to church not pregnant without a baby, might seem a little weird! But when it was getting time to go, Isaac was out cold and didn't sleep much at night, so we figured we might as well let him sleep and let Nana and Papa watch him. After that blessing, which went really well, we headed up to Blackfoot for my cousin's blessing. Isaac did really well with the car ride and through sacrament. After sacrament we went over to my aunt and uncle's house for some food and Isaac was still asleep. It wasn't until right before we were leaving that he started to wake up. (We did wake him up after the first baby blessing, don't think we let him go that long without food!) Here are some pictures from the day.

Too cute for words

Compared to Thursday, our days have been relatively uneventful. Papa, aka my dad, came into town last night, as well as my sister and her husband, so just about everyone in our families have met Isaac. Here he is asleep on dad's chest...the moment Taylor has been waiting for...

An eventful day for Isaac

Well, today was definitely the most eventful day that Isaac has had so far. It started off great...Isaac had a GREAT night! I was certainly pleased about that...only woke up twice to feed and went right back down when he was done. So, even though the night was great...Taylor was still wiped out:

He got home from his two morning classes and crashed on the couch! Haha... Here's Nana (my mom) with her first grandchild!

After a good morning nap and good feeding, we gave Isaac his first sponge bath...he didn't like it very much...

But, always an entertainer, peed on dad in the middle of it!!!

That seriously was so funny...it was one of those things you say "ok, he's going to pee, watch out, or cover him up" and when you least expect it...it comes. It was funny!

And then...we were off to the Doctor's office to be circumcised....dun dun dun....

BUT, good news, Isaac did GREAT!!! He cried a little bit when they stuck the shot in him to numb the area--which was so hard for me--but then practically fell asleep through the rest of the procedure. And, has been great ever since. The doctor said he may be a little irritable this evening, but so far, he's good. He's currently sound asleep.

If the circumcision wasn't enough, we had to go to the hospital today to get Isaac's 2nd PKU done. This is where they take blood samples from his little foot...I'd say it was a prick, but it wasn't a needle they used, it looked more like a mini razor blade. But again, he did great through this as well!! We were so proud of him...after this he fell fast asleep in the car seat. So, so far so good, we'll see how the night goes tonight.

This was the most activity I've had since coming home from the hospital and it definitely wiped me out. I don't know what my deal is, but I have the hardest time taking a nap. It was a total different story when I was in school, but now for some reason I just can't stop what I'm doing (which really, what am I doing right now when Isaac's asleep??) to lay down and rest.
